What Gateway Does Differently

Gateway is a school where high expectations
are shared between staff and children- rather than
being foisted on children. This is possible because of
the individual relations staff build with every child.
We believe that education is a shared experience
betweenteacher and child, and that a true
teacher listens, shares, discusses; giving the
child opportunities & skills to think
for themselves.

Gateway draws out individual strengths and
gives children the opportunity to use them whilst
helping children with specific difficulties. There is a
 true sense of belonging
to a community here.

Gateway allows children to develop their
strengths, support weaknesses and makes them
feel part of a nurturing community. The attention to
the individual is paramount and teachers spend
a lot of time talking about the children and passing on
information in order to meet the needs of each child.
The school provides opportunities for children to
express themselves and appreciate
beautiful literature, art and music through
initiatives like the Take One
Picture project.

Gateway makes a celebration of learning;
sharing in each child’s joy at their success.

Creates an environment where the children and happy,
willing to learn and receive regular praise and feedback
from staff who put their individual needs first.
