Inspection Reports

Gateway School is pleased to share the outcome of our recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection, carried out in October 2025 under the updated national framework. This model focuses on pupils’ wellbeing, learning experiences, personal development, leadership and the quality of provision, rather than giving an overall one-word judgement.

We are delighted to report that Gateway met all the Independent School Standards, with no areas judged unmet. Inspectors highlighted many strengths across the school, reflecting the dedication of our staff and the enthusiasm of our pupils.

Below are some of the key findings from the report:

  • “Pupils demonstrate a positive attitude in their lessons. They are eager to learn and achieve.”

  • “Children respond positively, displaying sociability and enjoyment in their learning environment.”

  • “Teaching is of good quality.”

  • “Lessons are effectively structured to reinforce learning and maintain pupils’ interest.”

  • “Cross-curricular projects enhance the curriculum.”

  • “Leaders and governors promote and prioritise pupils’ wellbeing.”

  • “Staff foster nurturing relationships and support children’s development through engaging and well-planned activities.”

  • “Pupils develop social responsibility… through pupil parliament, community engagement and charitable activities.”

  • “There is an extensive range of extra-curricular activities available.”

  • “Pupils are prepared well for life in British society.”

  • “Leaders continually reflect on how they can bring improvements to the experience of pupils.”

What is an ISI inspection?

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is appointed by the Department for Education to inspect association independent schools in England. The inspectors observe lessons, have discussions with pupils and examine samples of pupils’ work. They hold discussions with members of staff and with governors, observe co-curricular activities and attend form meetings and assemblies. Inspectors consider the responses of parents, staff and pupils to a pre-inspection questionnaire and examine curriculum and other documents.
